HoosierGazette.com becomes part of World Humor Exchange

HoosierGazette.com is proud
to announce that it has become a partner with Steinarsson Media International (SMI)
as part of their World Humor Exchange.
The World Humor Exchange is
a site currently being developed by SMI as a site that will be a clearinghouse
for humorous stories from around the globe. The site, which will be up and
running August 1, will be include provide a language translator so stories
submitted by members in their native languages can be read by nearly anyone.
SMI’s president, Kristján
Steinarsson says the goal of the site is to promote understanding between
cultures. “If the world can laugh together, than perhaps we can learn to
understand and respect the difference between our cultures.”
SMI is based in Iceland and
has a minority stake in several media companies, including the newspapers
Morgunbladid (Iceland),
Copenhagen Post (Denmark),
The Sun (United Kingdom), and
Sermitsiaq (Greenland).
SMI is also a growing
player in the humor market, owning
http://www.drasl.is/, a site very popular in Western Europe that features links to
video, pictures, and stories from various parts of the globe. Humor.is has
featured several stories from HoosierGazette.com in recent weeks and is gaining
popularity in the United States.
When asked why
HoosierGazette.com was picked as the charter member of the World Humor Exchange
from the United States, Steinarsson explained, “We wanted to find a new, fresh
site that is up and coming for this grassroots project. After interviewing
webmasters from several American sites, we were most impressed with the Hoosier
Gazette staff and their brand of humor.”

FARK.ru (unaffiliated with FARK.com), Brazil’s
Uęba, and The Netherlands’
Flabber.
