Indiana to offer four
new specialty license plates

Due to a widespread dislike
of Indiana’s standard edition license plates adopted in 2003, the popularity of
specialty plates has grown tremendously. Last year alone, the number of people
purchasing such plates grew by over 300%.
The Indiana Bureau of Motor
Vehicles receives an additional $15 per specialty plate sold, so the agency is
releasing four additional plates May 1 to raise money for the campaign to elect
Joe Kernan for Governor.
Over the past several
months, artists from around the state submitted ideas for new plates to be
offered by the Indiana BMV. A panel of Democratic legislators chose the
following as the final four:
