Caesars Indiana to use decks of “Famous Hoosiers” playing cards

            By Dan Caple, THG Features

Beginning this fall, the Bridgeport-based Caesars Indiana riverboat casino will begin using special edition “Famous Hoosiers” playing cards in its blackjack and poker games.

Each deck of 52 cards, produced by the United States Playing Card Company (usplayingcard.com), will feature famous politicians, entertainers, athletes, and other celebrities who hail from or lived in Indiana

Both living and deceased Hoosiers are included in the deck.  Some of the more well-known celebrities featured include Michael Jackson, Dave Letterman, Benjamin Harrison, Gus Grissom, Jane Pauley, Jimmy Hoffa, Bob Griese, John Dillinger, John Wooden, Red Skelton, and Rupert Boneham.

Kyle Michaels, an executive vice president for Caesars Indiana, says that poker’s growing popularity has created a demand for more specialty decks of playing cards.  “People are tired of the same old red or blue designs—consumers are always looking for something cutting-edge and different.  We thought the ‘Hoosier' decks would be a good idea and anticipate huge sales.  We are already receiving phone calls daily from folks wanting to buy them.”

Decks of the cards will be available for purchase in October at the Caesars Indiana gift shop.  For information about Caesars, check out their website at http://www.caesars.com/Corporate/Indiana.
