Some New
Year’s sports resolutions for the Hoosier State
By

The New Year will be upon
us before we know it, so the sports staff at HoosierGazette.com sat down and
made a list of resolutions for teams around the state:
A winning record for
IU’s football team. New coach
what’s-his-name from Miami of Ohio says he will take the Hoosiers to a Big Ten
championship. Let’s start small—we would be happy with a winning record and a
bid to the Popeye’s Chicken Avocado Bowl.
Fire Mike Davis.
Sorry, but Davis is a joke. Bobby
Knight used to go to the tournament every year with a couple of players and a
bunch of white stiffs who would play their rear ends off. Davis has these great
recruiting classes that haven’t panned out.
And while you are at
it,bring back The General.
Sure, his antics were immature and embarrassed the university, but he won games
and was always entertaining. Maybe if we ask nicely he will come back with his
“game face” on.
Wake up the echoes.
Notre Dame needs to get back in the BCS picture as soon as possible or Charlie
Weis’ ass is grass and the alumni will be the lawn mower.
Colts win the Super
Bowl. The defense is a lot better
than last year, and Dwight Freeney is playing like a monster. This could be the
year if Payton and Company can do their offensive magic in the cold, wind, and
snow.
Hoosiers win the NCAA
soccer championship again. We know
no real American really cares about soccer—just seeing if you are paying
attention.
Bring back Artest.
We miss Artest. We know he is out for the year. Just bring him back to promote
his CD at halftime of one of the home games. Come on Pacers, do it for the
fans! Surely he wouldn’t run into the stands and punch us (would he?).
Reinstate one-class
basketball. The high school
tournament has sucked since they instituted the multi-class format. We know—a
lot of whiney-ass parents complained about small schools rarely winning. Who
cares! The IHSAA needs to grow a pair, admit their mistake, and bring back the
format that the greatest sports movie of all time is all about.
A great farewell for
Keady. I know this is a stretch and
Purdue isn’t that talented this year, but wouldn’t it be great if Coach Keady
could go to the Final Four before riding off in the sunset?
