We at THG appreciate feedback from our readers, so we have decided to post
some recent comments sent in to our staff on various subjects. We left in all
spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors to preserve authenticity. These are
actual comments, not works of fiction like most of our material.
Regarding our “Korean War Vet who eats dogs” article:
From Indianapolis:
Re: your "story" on the Shelbyville man who eats dogs. One can't help but wonder
when we should expect the Hoosier Gazette to provide some
recipies from Jeffrey Dommer.
The Gazette could have used this space to print something newsworthy - or to
promote something of value. Rather, it choose to give people ideas on how to be
grosser and more cruel than they already are.
Animal abuse is never funny.
From Indianapolis:
Regarding your Sep 5 feature "For Shelbyville Korean War veteran, it’s a
man-eat-dog world"
Since Mr. Johnson doesn't "...see the difference between eating the meat of one
animal over another.” then he won't mind it when his neighbor wants to grill him
over an open fire.
From Indianapolis:
I found the article on the man who eats dog very offensive and low-class. Come
one - I know it is satirical but it couldn't have been in poorer taste- Do you
have a warning for readers under 18 - perhaps you should post a warning for IQ
also-
From South Carolina:
I find it quite disturbing that you would post an article in regards to a man
that eats dog!!! I hope that all of the Animal Shelters have taken his name, and
will now ban him from ever adopting an animal again. And your paper should be
ashamed to have published this article to begin with. It is animal cruelty, and
he should be arrested.
Regarding our Kentucky:
From Kentucky:
I've never heard of the hoosier gazette before. I inadvertantly linked here from
another site and have only rarely wished so fervently that I'd never clicked a
hyperlink.
I'm sure your little satires are enjoyable to most people, but to have an entire
section devoted to the smearing of another state to the exclusion of all others
is pretty despicable.
Obviously, you've never been to Kentucky nor have you ever talked to anyone from
this state.
Your jokes page says "At least we don't live in Kentucky".... Rest easy,
hoosiers, Kentucky wouldn't have you. Kentucky is not for snobs or mean-spirited
jerks who wouldn't know a thoroughbred from a jackass since the latter well
outnumbers the former.
Obviously folks in Indiana have too much time on their hands. I sincerely hope,
however, that they at least have something, ANYTHING, better to do than read
your drivel.
From Portland, Oregon:
Eddie Bird has an interesting sense of humor if he intended that article "‘Queer
Eye for the Straight Guy’ Road Show Huge Disaster for Vincennes" to be a
joke. I was disgusted when I read that article only to go back on a few hours
later and see that there had been "This story is fictional, intended to make
intolerant people look bad" put on top. Why would you make a fictional story up
like that to make intolerant people look bad?? Maybe that kind of humor would
have been appropriate for my 10 year old cousin, but wow.Not even that it's
offensive, its just DUMB! My confusion was put to rest, however, when I saw that
your website had a 'W '04' sign, and I realized who was running the site.
From Vincennes:
I WOULD LIKE FOR ALL YOUR READERS TO KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT ALL LIKE THAT HERE IS
VINCENNES. I READ YOUR ARTICLE ON "QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY". I LOVE MY
GIRLFRIEND, WE HAVE BEEN TOGETHER FOR THREE YEARS ON THE 23RD OF THIS MONTH. I
THINK THE MAYOR NEEDS TO TAKE A LONG HARD LOOK AT VINCENNES. "US PEOPLE" ARE ALL
OVER THIS TOWN, AND WE ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE.
From West Lafayette:
I just read the Queer Eye for the Straight guy article.
It is wonderful to see that hate is alive and well in southern Indiana. It is
not wonder that the rest of the country treats us like inbred, uneducated hill
jacks. Bravo Hoosier Gazette. You show case everything that is wrong with this
state. But rest assured, your hateful reign will be over soon.
Regarding our Same Sex Marriage/Health Insurance article:
From Boston:
Regarding "76% of straight Hoosiers would marry a person of the same sex to have
better health coverage By Cooper Mears, THG News"
Do you have a citing/link to this poll? Did you make this statistic up?
Regarding our Kinsey Institute/Parenting IQ article:
From Parts Unknown:
I found your website while looking at Snopes Urban Legends for the latest
additions. After reading some of your stories I'm sure I heard at least two of
them mentioned on "Paul Harvey News". Apparently Paul baby doesn't check his
sources very closely.
Funny stuff, and quite believably written. I can see how people might be taken
in---especially a mother of five with a now diminished IQ.
From Parts Unknown:
Did you know that there are 138 web pages that have copied part of your Indiana
University study: having children significantly lowers parents’ IQs and sent
people to your site for the rest. They think the study was real. You really need
to identify the fiction from the factual articles. I almost used it on my web
site, but I check my references and I can't find one other source of the study.
From Parts Unknown:
I just found your site. I was on www.snopes.com and you guys were
mentioned. I found the Kinsey Institute piece hilarious! I am a
Hoosier as well and haven't found anything offensive. I can't
believe that some people actually took the article seriously. I have
3 kids and there are several days where I feel I have lost my mind,
but not my IQ. Keep up the good work.
From Parts Unknown:
If your report from Kinsey Institute is true then those at the institute must
have had 25 children each.
People who vomit such garbage as this know nothing and are only proficient in
proving that all the fools aren't dead.
From Minnesota:
Parents have lower IQ'S when they have children? You are an absolute educated
idiot and should be replaced by a kindergarten graduate.
Regarding our article about the Pacers trading Jermaine O’Neal:
From Muncie:
how could u put something about trading jo that so stupid and larry bird would
never do that and how u said jo wasnt happy wit the trading or signing of free
agents is a bunch of bul and u know it... it would be all over indy star and
pacers.com if it happened so u should stop being so stupid cause that’s childish
From Michigan:
Dude, people, if your gonna make a trade up, atleast make sure it works under
the Collective Bargaining Agreement. JO for dice/james LMAO!!!!!!
Miscellaneous:
From an American soldier serving in Iraq:
The dear don section is the most hilarious part of the webpage, but it’s all
good. Just wanted to say thanks for making this hilariously ridiculous site for
me and many other soldiers to look at and crap up at while we are stuck in this
sh** sandwich sandbox. THANKS!!
Thanks again to all of you that took the time to comment!
