***An Emergency Public Service Announcement for Evansville, Indiana***

July 4, 2004

For the next two weekends (July 9-11 and July 16-18), Evansville residents are advised to either leave town or stay inside their homes with doors locked and curtains drawn.  DO NOT answer your door for any reason if someone knocks for your own safety.

As many as 15,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses from four states are preparing to descend on the city for two conventions that will explore the roles of religion in world affairs.  Members of the faith are scheduled to convene at Roberts Stadium from 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays and Saturdays and 1:30 to 5 p.m. on Sundays, but THG is advising all Evansville citizens to take precautions just in case the Witnesses have a change of plans and start knocking on doors and witnessing, tying up hours of your weekend free time.
