Nobody is touching her monkeys, at least not if THG can help it

            By Matt Utley, THG Features

This week the Indianapolis Star ran a story about Darlene Rucker, a Dunlap, Indiana resident who keeps 12 monkeys as pets in her home.  These Capuchin monkeys wear diapers and clothes and do not venture outside in neighbors’ yards or roam the neighborhoods.

Due to a complaint from a spineless anonymous source, Ms. Dunlap was forced to seek a permit from the county in order to keep the primates, which she considers her “family.”  Ms. Dunlap lost her bid to obtain a permit and must move to a different location if she wants to keep her monkeys.

This issue boils down to much more than whether or not Ms. Rucker has the right to keep monkeys in her home.  What this comes down to is people not minding their own business.

You see people like this anywhere you go—at work, in your neighborhood, at church—jerkoffs who can’t stand themselves unless they are prying into other people’s lives to try and make them conform to the way they THINK people should live or conduct themselves.

In an article printed on etruth.com, Ms. Rucker said that animal organizations, such as the International Primate Protection League, object to her keeping animals in a subdivision and for altering (a.k.a. neutering or spading) animals in any way.

Ms. Rucker has been on TV and in National Geographic about caring for primates, and I would put money on it that one of those animal-rights freaks called and complained about it—the first complaint filed against Rucker in a generation of keeping the pets.  By the way, no monkey has ever escaped under Rucker’s watch.

To make matters worse, the same coward who made the call probably has dogs or cats or other pets in their home, and doesn’t think twice about keeping them in captivity.

What we at THG encourage all of our readers to do is put pressure on your national, state, and local officials anytime an issue such as this comes to light.  You can practice by contacting Elkhart County officials and giving them a piece of mind on Ms. Rucker’s behalf.  You can find contact information at http://www.elkhartcountyindiana.com/
