It’s time for Semi-Pro football; let the carnage begin!

            By Howie Baker, THG Sports

Each year, thousands of men around the country who are not ready to give up playing the game they love try out for semi-pro football teams.  Some of these teams have been in existence for decades and have a loyal fan following, while others are fly-by-night operations that might only be in existence for a year or two.  Either way, they give men around America to compete on the gridiron one more time.

If you are a fan of hard hitting football action, do yourself a favor this summer and check out a local semi-pro football game—trust me, it is worth the price of admission!  I would argue that the semi-pro game is the most entertaining brand of football available to the viewing public for of one reason: the wide spectrum of talent within the semi-pro ranks.

On any given team, you could have guys suiting up who never started on their high school football team along side someone who was an all-conference Division I college player who was just a step two slow or inch two short to make an NFL roster.  What does this mean?  Somebody is getting their ass rocked!

There is nothing better than watching a stud defensive lineman or linebacker fresh out of college come off the corner untouched and destroying a quarterback after some 35 year-old slob lineman completely missed him because he was too fat to get out of his stance.

Another great thing about semi-pro football is the element of danger involved at each game.  At any time a knee can blow out or a hamstring can pull.  This keeps fans on the edge of their seat as they wait to see who the next casualty will be.  These injuries will not just put a player out for the season--it will be awfully hard to install cable or plumbing Monday with a ruptured disk!

Make sure you get out and support your local semi-pro football team—they are putting their bodies and careers on the line for your enjoyment.
